The state of Arkansas is blessed with diverse terrain that offers a wide range of conditions for running events. Whether you prefer flat courses or mountainous trails, Arkansas has it all. The state boasts a number of running events that are held almost every weekend. These include such classics as marathons, trail running and relay races that cover a vast territory. Hoof it for Heifer – The participants will tackle the 20K trail run that winds along the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Boy Scout Trail in Petit Jean State Park. During the run you will be able to enjoy beautiful landscapes and there are aid stations along the way. Entry fees will be donated to Heifer International.
Little Rock Marathon – This is one of the most famous marathons in Arkansas. With beautiful scenery and fancy medals for the winners, the Little Rock marathon starts in downtown and passes through several Little Rock neighborhoods. Be prepared for great support and lots of entertainment along the way.
Hogeye Marathon – Held for 40 years in a row, this marathon is the oldest in Arkansas. The runners will cross several parks around Springdale and Fayetteville. The sports event includes a half marathon, relay race and a 5K Arkansas.
Arkansas Traveller 100 - This 100-mile race has already become a tradition that challenges the participants to test their running skills. The course is really beautiful and it only adds to the excitement of ultra-running that makes runners come back here every year.
Capital City Classic 10k – Visit Little Rock to compete with other athletes challenging this flat USATF-certified course. Fast and easily accessible, the course draws some of the best runners in the state. There is a picturesque Two Rivers Park nearby offering beautiful views to enjoy.
Toad Suck Daze Run – The event draws thousands of participants and includes 5K & 10K run through Conway, as well as a wheelchair division of the 10K and a kids' run.
RussVegas Half Marathon – Attend this family-friendly event not only to compete in running but also to enjoy food, listen to live music and have tons of fun. This fast course takes place in historic downtown Russellville.
Full mOOn 50k and 25k – For a really unique running experience consider joining Full mOOn 50k and 25K held at night. The participants will tackle unpaved roads of the Ouachita Mountains and will be able to see some of the wildest areas in the state. The course is marked with glow sticks to prevent the runners from getting lost in the dark.
Eureka Springs Multisport Festival – The picturesque town of Eureka Springs located in the scenic Northwest Arkansas is home to Multisport Festival featuring a 10K, 5K and one-mile fun run/walk.
Outback in the Ozarks – Team up with your relatives or friends for a 205-mile endurance relay across the stunning terrain of the Ozark Mountains. Each team has 8-12 runners challenging the rolling mountainous hills.
Arkansas Marathon – Held in Booneville, the Arkansas Marathon in the most scenic run in the state. It covers the rural area in the vicinity of the Ouachita and Ozark National Forests. With lots of hills along the route, the area is free of crowds so nothing will distract you from enjoying the great outdoors.
3 Bridges Marathon – A Boston Marathon qualifier, the race got its name after the area where it is held. The participants will run along the USATF certified course that begins in the Little Rock River Trail and then crosses the Big Dam Bridge, Clinton Presidential Bridge and Two Rivers Bridge.
